Volksbank Launches Measurement of the Impact of Social Initiatives in Support of Local Communities

The initiative is part of the “I-mpact 2026” Business Plan. The social impact measurement model, developed in collaboration with Triadi, a spin-off of Politecnico di Milano, stems from Volksbank’s commitment to making the positive impact generated by ESG measures and initiatives measurable.

Volksbank continues to strengthen and expand its commitment to environmental and social issues. In line with its “I-mpact 2026” Business Plan, Volksbank has launched several projects aimed at promoting social well-being. One of its objectives is to support the most vulnerable groups in society, an effort already underway, for example, through its collaboration with the volunteer organisation Alzheimer Südtirol Alto Adige ODV, which launched the “Sollievo” project.

To measure the tangible value of these initiatives, Volksbank has decided to draw on the scientific expertise of Triadi, a Benefit Corporation, innovative start-up and spin-off of Politecnico di Milano, established on the basis of the decade-long expertise of Tiresia, the Research Centre of the School of Management of Politecnico di Milano specialising in social innovation, impact measurement and impact finance.

Triadi provides measurement and strategic advisory services in the fields of social impact and sustainability, using innovative technologies and artificial intelligence for data analysis. It will support the Bank in understanding the social value generated for communities and local areas through its initiatives, by developing an assessment methodology based on the “Theory of Change” framework.

The methodology adopted by Triadi is based on the Theory of Change, a tool that is increasingly recognised in the field of impact investing and makes it possible to map and assess the short-, medium- and long-term value intentionally generated by an organisation’s activities for local communities and territories. Through this methodology, it will be possible to assess and manage the impacts generated by Volksbank through its projects.

“We are proud to launch this technical and scientific collaboration with Triadi, which will support us throughout this journey. Social impact measurement represents an important step in Volksbank’s I-mpact 2026 strategic plan, with a view to ensuring transparency and accountability in our commitment, particularly across our three strategic areas: social green mobility, family and childcare, and support for the most vulnerable members of society,” says Manuela Miorelli, Head of Sustainability at Volksbank.

“Triadi’s mission is to support organisations in developing an ever-greater awareness of the transformative power they can generate for society and the planet, through impact management and assessment models inspired by the principles of integrity, rigour and transparency. It is precisely because we deeply share these principles and objectives that we have embarked, together with Volksbank, a leading bank in the field of sustainability, on a journey of innovation and development of new measurement tools aimed at enhancing the ability to generate shared value,” says Mario Calderini, Chairman of Triadi.
